Jock Safari Lodge is one of the very first privately owned camps situated in the world famous Kruger National Park, with exclusive traversing rights in what is regarded as the best Big Five game viewing area in the Kruger National Park.

Jock Safari Lodge is set in the Jock of the Bushveld concession in the southern area of the Kruger National Park. It is situated halfway between Malelane & Skukuza and only approximately 458km (284.6 miles) from Johannesburg and its airport. We offer a scheduled fly-in service.

Each suite has a private “Sala” (outdoor lounge) that overlooks the river. The romantic bathrooms and outdoor showers share the same river view and sightings of animals, including the BIG FIVE can be seen from the comfort & privacy of your own room. Each suite has a King size bed surrounded by walk-in mosquito netting, a small lounge and twin basin bathroom.

Your private terrace has its own plunge pool and a wooden walkway to a lapa overlooking the riverbed.

CUISINE AND THE BUSH DINING EXPERIENCE

At Jock we offer an African cuisine which incorporates an abundance of flavours accumulated on the routes followed by sir Percy Fitzpatrick.

The chef and his dedicated team conjure up dishes inspired by this unique location, as well as all of the influences that have passed through it at one time or another.

From the primal flavours of wild game and local herbs picked from the surrounding bushveld to the spicy tastes of visiting Arab traders, and traditional dishes introduced by European gold miners – guests can take their taste buds on a true African safari.

The cuisine is presented in a variety of locations. From the elegant dining room, to private dining in your suite or to a boma style barbeque adventure under the panorama of the African night.

A TYPICAL DAY AT JOCK

Early morning game drives start with a wake up call between 05h00 and 06h00; tea and coffee is served in the lounge before heading our for your game drive

Leave in time to catch the sunrise & great animal viewing.

Return to camp by 9am and enjoy a hearty breakfast.

Join guided Walking safaris after breakfast where our game rangers offer fauna and flora lectures and magnificent rock art viewing.

Each topic is discussed and guests are welcome to set the pace as they wish.

There is of course always the good possibility of game viewing on these outings.

Lunch and relaxation time is enjoyed until the big game drive starts in the late afternoon.

Beverages and snacks are served at a scenic place en route to watch the African sunset.

Once back from the evening game drive, dinner is served at the lodge or in your own room if you wish.

THE PILGRIM'S REST SPA

Pilgrim’s Rest, named after the quaint historical mining town featured so prominently in “Jock of the Bushveld” and still in existence today, was a place to rest, rejuvenate and restock. So too is the Spa, destined to become a jewel in the Mantis Spa Collection.

Overlooking the haven of a serenity garden, it is fully equipped with therapy and relaxation rooms, hydrotherapy bath, steam room and sauna. Therapies are also available in the relaxed atmosphere of one’s own room.At “Pilgrim’s Rest” the need for both physical and psychological well-being is understood. Each treatment has been developed to revive, rejuvenate and restore the skin together with rebalancing mind, body and spirit. Highly qualified therapists will design a treatment programme to ensure deep relaxation and induce inner and outer harmony.

The Spa offers a variety of treatments. Sensuous Indonesian Spa Rituals that exfoliate, pamper and polish the skin are inspired by regal preparations in JAVA and combine natural herb exfoliators, aromatic essences and special massage techniques to calm and soothe body and mind.

The aromatic essences of secret fantasies, new beginnings and silent moments take one on a journey to an exotic destination, while enjoying a sensational and stimulating massage by jets of water in the Hydrotherapy Bath.
