Africa Safaris, South Africa Luxury Tours and Travel Reservations

Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill

Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill are two exceptional bush homes situated on adjoining private game reserves in the malaria free Waterberg, 3 hours north west of Johannesburg. Ant and Tessa Baber have a general policy of taking only one family, group or couple at a time, allowing guests exclusive use of the lodge of their choice. Our aim is to provide a uniquely flexible safari experience offering guests a wide choice of activities, keeping everyone entertained from the youngest to the oldest, the fittest to the most in need of a rest..

Ant’s Nest offers a personal and flexible home from home experience. Lying in a natural amphitheatre the original homestead with its wide verandahs has a classic African atmosphere. The luxurious en-suite rooms accommodate a maximum of only 10 guests. Nestled in the landscaped gardens, the expansive pool blends naturally into the surroundings. There is a wonderful thatched covered chill out spot furnished with large sofa beds for those in need of a siesta or respite from the sun.

Ant’s Hill is hosted by a wonderful team, who create an open friendly atmosphere. Built on the edge of a gorge, this bush home offers breathtaking views across the Waterberg. With spacious rooms and vast folding doors, the thatched lodge blends into the bush, while the exotic furniture and brightly coloured African fabrics make it both sophisticated and comfortable. The draped four-poster beds are seven foot wide and each bathroom is spectacular, offering guests sunken baths and waterfall showers. Set in boulders on the edge of the cliff, the infinity swimming pool cascades over the lip of the gorge. Ant’s Hill caters for a maximum of 12 guests.

Our reserves are ones of diverse topography and vegetation ranging from wide-open plains to beautiful mountainous areas, enabling us to naturally sustain the widest variety of game possible. They boast over 40 species of game including the rare sable antelope, nyala, oryx, eland, giraffe, buffalo, white rhino and well over 300 species of resident and migrant birds. In addition to game drives, the reserves offer a safe and secluded environment to allow guests of all ages to enjoy guided bush walks, horse rides, cycling and game drives.
