| This luxury hotel opened in August 2003 and is designed to suit the needs of the business and leisure traveller. Upon arrival at reception one is greeted by a barrage of receptionists and a small army of flat screen computer check-in monitors.
This setup does, however, blend in perfectly with the 21st century slick and stylish interior. Leather chairs and highly polished marble floors are punctuated by chic African artefacts on the walls.
The Sheraton has facilities to cater to your every whim. One phone call allows you to order anything from a new light bulb to a chicken mayo sandwich at two in the morning, and the television in your room even tracks the status of your order!
Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel - Rooms
Rooms are modern and sophisticated, though not particularly spacious. This is well compensated for, however, by the oversized, custom-made 'Sweet Sleeper' beds. Understated décor creates an uncluttered atmosphere and African touches such as a beaded picture and intricately woven pillows complete the look.
Each room contains soundproof windows, block out curtains and a business desk with an ISDN line and a cordless phone to help create your own mobile office.
The Sheraton offers various dining options, of which the top of the list is the chic Restaurant Thirty 7. The restaurant boasts a show kitchen feature, where one can watch chefs prepare a contemporary combination of Eastern and Mediterranean food.
Besides Thirty 7, there are various coffee shops serving light lunches, a cigar bar, an exclusive guest lounge for Tower Club guests (the Tower Club is similar to a frequent flyer programme), and even a jazz bar that offers all day dining. On top of all this, you can order from these various menus any time of the day or night, so you'll never go hungry.
If you tire of the Sheraton's chic interior, there are always nearby Waterfront restaurants and eateries in the City Centre, where you're bound to find food to suit your taste buds. |

| After a leisurely breakfast, make your way to the Constantia Wine Valley, only 20 minutes’ drive from your hotel. Enjoy your morning round of golf and afterwards taste the Steenberg Wines and wines of the surrounding wine farms and opt for a lunch on one of these wine farms |
| Golf at Steenberg Golf Club. | Designer Ken Elkin. Distance Champ 6 424m, Club 6 115m, Par 72.
The Steenberg Golf Course and Estate offers the golfer the complete package. In terms of a resort course, look no further than Steenberg. The five star graded Steenberg country Hotel, championship golf course, guided tours and wine tasting on the edge of the Constantia winelands make golfing at Steenberg an unforgettable golf experience.
Steenberg is both private and exclusive. Only hotel guests, members and their guests are allowed on the course. This is a luxury in season, as it avoids over crowding normally associated with golf courses in Cape Town during the summer months of November to April.
Steenberg Golf course has a flat layout with wetland and parkland features. The fairways are divided into four distinctive regions, namely Wetlands, Parklands, Cape Flats and Fynbos. These regions take advantage of all natural features and hazards that golfers have to navigate. Some of these features include large waste bunkers, running creeks, water hazards and excellent bent greens. Check out the par-three 7th at the start of the wetland section of the course. It is surrounded by water on three sides and a bunker on the fourth. |

| After a leisurely breakfast, make your way to Melkbosstrand for your round of golf. Afterwards admire the picture-perfect view of Table Mountain and Robben Island from Blouberg Beach, you may even opt to have lunch at one of the many beach front restaurants or one of the nearby Durbanville Wine farms. |
| Golf at Atlantic Beach Golf Club. | Designer Mark Muller (Golf Data) Distance Champ 6 344m, Club 5 855m Par 72.
The Atlantic Beach Golf Club is a fairly new golf development that has been given a five star rating in terms of value for money, facilities, condition of the courses and over-all golfing experience. What more could you expect from a multi-million rand club house with a scenic setting that boasts a spectacular view towards a few of Cape Town's famous landmarks - Table Bay, Robben Island, Cape Town and Table Mountain?
Although the fairways at Atlantic Beach Golf Course have been widened somewhat, this course is pretty tough. Just off the fairways you'll find thick fynbos (bush) and shrubbery. After you have lost a couple of balls in the fynbos you might want to put your driver away or break it.
A decent round at the Atlantic Beach Golf Club requires a good deal of finesse where a bit of safety play with a lay-up is sometimes a better option. The short par-four 11th, with a view towards the ocean and mountain, would be a perfect example of when to lay-up! |

| After a leisurely breakfast, make your way to the Helderberg area for your round of golf. Afterwards make some time to explore the Cape Winelands. Visit the numerous wine farms in the area for a chance to sample world class wines. If the weather allows a hot air balloon ride over the vineyards is a must. Don’t forget the beach is a short drive away and there is shopping in the numerous malls which cannot be missed |
| Golf at Erinvale Golf Club. | Designer Gary Player Design Co. Distance Champ 6 506m, Club 5 892m, Par 72.
Erinvale Golf Course was selected as the venue for the 1996 World Cup of Golf, the only South African course ever to have been so honoured. Situated at the foot of the Hottentots Holland and Helderberg Mountains in Somerset West, this is one of the best and most beautiful golf courses in South Africa. This Gary Player design is a course of two separate and contrasting nine holes.
The front nine meanders through flat parkland terrain and the many houses on this part of the estate, while the back nine climbs drastically up the mountain with views of the coastline from the top holes. There is a lot of water and some unusual pothole sand traps. This is a great course with world class greens and fairways and spectacular views! The only let-down is the houses on this estate course which make the fairways very tight and difficult thus restricting higher handicapped golfers.
The signature hole is on the par-four 17th, a finishing hole that is a test of nerves for any golfer! Playing downhill from an elevated tee, this hole is long and narrow, with tall pines flanking one side and an out-of-bounds on the other. |
